Rapid Replay Incident Reconstructions

Data-led reconstructions including OpenVDR, Manoeuvring Simulations, and Traffic Analysis

Rapid Replay

Since its introduction in 2013 Solis Marine’s RAPID REPLAY service has provided critical support in more than 250 cases giving shipowners, insurers, marine lawyers and correspondents clear and unbiased reconstructions of shipping incidents.

Solis Marine's online RAPID REPLAY platform puts the analysis right in the hands of the user.  The custom-built online platform, developed in collaboration with industry leading AIS service provider MariTrace©, gives the user complete control over the reconstruction clarifying events in the immediate aftermath of an incident, or providing in-depth analysis during complex ongoing incident investigations.

OpenVDR

OpenVDR is an electronic data extraction service for Voyage Data Recorders.

Some VDR logs are incomplete or corrupted. But in most cases OpenVDR can identify and extract the critical files which can then be converted to usable formats, including recorded audio, images and serial data logs.

Our OpenVDR service is auditable and transparent at every stage. This is essential for electronic data investigations. A brief report is provided stating what could and could not be extracted, the files provided, and any other observations that you might find useful.

Manoeuvring Simulations

Our naval architects are able to conduct manoeuvring simulations using a range of software solutions including ship dynamics simulators and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Simulations can be used to investigate 'what if' scenarios as well as to consider more complex issues such as shallow water effects.

Traffic Analysis

Our incident investigation services extend to vessel traffic analysis when wider issues such as sanctions, loss of use of a berth and common navigational practices are important.

We provide a range of traffic analysis options which can be presented visually in the form of heat maps and plots on navigation charts, or simply through a spreadsheet providing statistical analysis of data.
