Solis Marine is entering Adventure Race Japan again in May 2027. We are asking colleagues, clients and friends of the firm to help us raise USD 5,000 for The Mission to Seafarers.
In May 2025, Andrew Ling, Jun Hao Liew and Shann Khong competed as Bib G38 in two events across Japan's Izu Peninsula. The Green Dragon race challenged their endurance over a hilly 9 km course with 475 m of elevation gain, taken in alongside scenic countryside views. Despite persistent rain and cold, the Rogaining Challenge put their navigational skills to the test and the shared struggle made it all the more rewarding.
Solis Marine was one of more than 100 teams from 26 countries. Together, and with 35 corporate sponsors behind them, those teams raised US$1.85 million, of which US$1.35 million went to The Mission's frontline work. The first race, in 2023, raised US$1.3 million.
We support The Mission because the link to our own work is direct. Many of our consultants are former seafarers, and we continue to work with seafarers on board vessels and in ports. The seafarer is too often the forgotten part of the story, and recent geopolitical events have highlighted this.
The Mission to Seafarers is a UK charity operating than 200 ports, and it provides invaluable support to seafarers facing challenges far from home. Money raised through Adventure Race Japan funds its Emerging Port Strategy, which is weighted towards Asia. It is a cause we are proud to support.
The 2027 edition of the race runs from 13 to 16 May in the Matsushiro Mountains, Nagano Prefecture, where we'll take on the Black Dragon Route to further test our determination and endurance.
