Welcome to our latest edition of ALONGSIDE, our regular newsletter with articles and updates from around the Solis Marine Group.
Following our recent announcement of an office opening in Malaysia, we begin this edition with the news that we have now established a presence in Jakarta, Indonesia, to provide immediate local response as well as supporting our ongoing growth within the region. Next, we reflect on our Engineering Division’s work as a member of a project team completing a feasibility study into a modular emissions management system for deployment on a general cargo vessel.
We then bring news of the appointment of Andrew Lynch, Marine Engineer, as our Far East Regional Head of Marine Engineering Services based in Singapore. Andrew is the latest addition to our Global team of Marine Engineers as we continue to grow this area of our expert services and another senior appointment will be announced shortly.
Colin Duncan is our Head of Crane Engineering Services and in the next article Colin looks at examples of crane failures and the methods of incident investigation. We then turn to more recruitment news, with the announcement that Master Mariner Gordon Lowe has joined our team based in the UK.
In May our Singapore office hosted a seminar and drinks reception at the Singapore Cricket Club, with Colin Duncan and Richard Gregory, our Head of Ports & Harbours, jointly presenting a session entitled: “Cranes and Concrete: What could possibly go wrong”. Next, we report on the involvement of our Master Mariner Jamie Simpson in the development of the UK P&I Club’s “Risk Focus: Safe Carriage of Vehicle Cargoes”.
Our CEO, Ros Blazejczyk, is a Trustee at the Marine Technology Trust and we end this Newsletter with news of the Trust’s inaugural online student panel.
We hope you will find this newsletter both interesting and informative and we look forward to bringing you our next edition in the autumn.
