Solis Marine is delighted to announce the appointment of Captain Gordon Lowe as a Master Mariner in our London office, strengthening our expertise in cargo, stowage and dry bulk operations.
Gordon has over twenty years of seagoing, command and fleet management experience across container vessels, bulk carriers and pure car and truck carriers. His cargo experience is extensive, spanning reefer and hazardous container cargoes; out-of-gauge and project cargoes carried on container vessels; bulk coal, iron ore, grains, pet coke, copper concentrate, and steel products; vehicles, including ICE, hybrid, and EVs; and plant machinery. He contributed to the 9th Edition of ‘Thomas' Stowage’. He joins from a large London-based ship owner/manager, where he served as General Fleet Manager and Designated Person Ashore (DPA), being the 24/7 emergency response contact for a fleet of 90 dry cargo vessels, assisting in a wide range of major incidents, including groundings, fires, collisions, and cargo damage and shift.
In his new role, Gordon Lowe will provide expert advice and reports to P&I and H&M insurers, lawyers and shipowners, managers and operators, covering cargo operations, stowage and lashing, and cargo damage, loss and shift, as well as navigation, vessel manoeuvring, safety management systems and charter party performance disputes.
