Solis Marine Opens Jakarta Office, Strengthening Indonesia Coverage

Solis Marine announces the opening of a new Jakarta office and the appointment of Afri Amsal as Marine Surveyor, bringing permanent in-country coverage to Indonesia backed by our Singapore and global team.

Solis Marine is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the appointment of Afri Amsal as Marine Surveyor. This further strengthens our presence across Southeast Asia and our ability to serve clients throughout the region.

Solis Marine has a long-established presence in Singapore and has attended many incidents in Indonesian waters over the years. Opening a permanent Jakarta office is a natural next step. It means we can now offer fast, local response in country across a full range of services, backed by our Singapore team.

Team Appointments

Afri Amsal joins as Marine Surveyor, based in Jakarta. Afri is a naval architect and marine surveyor with over 20 years of experience. He has already been working with Solis Marine on casualty work in Indonesia, and his appointment formalises that relationship. It also expands the range of services we can offer in country. Afri has deep expertise in bulk cargo, with a focus on self-heating coal and cargoes liable to liquefy. He has also worked as a laboratory manager, overseeing equipment and cargo testing. His wider experience covers casualty management, pollution response, P&I Club work, vessel surveys, and cargo surveys.

Anggit Prakosa is Solis Marine’s Salvage Consultant based in Jakarta, supporting casualty response and salvage work across Southeast Asia.

Services in Indonesia

From our Jakarta office, our team will provide a range of services including:

Casualty Management: On-site and onboard attendance for incidents, damage assessment, and response coordination across Indonesian waters.

Pollution Response Management: Coordinating with local authorities and contractors, and oversight of oil removal operations.

Bulk Cargo Investigation, Sampling and Testing: Work on bulk cargoes including self-heating coal, cargoes liable to liquefy, nickel ore, iron ore fines, bauxite, and mineral concentrates. This includes on-site sampling and lab testing for Transportable Moisture Limit.

P&I Club Investigations: Survey and investigation work for P&I clubs, shipowners, charterers, and cargo underwriters.

Cargo Surveys including Distressed Cargo Management: Surveys covering grain, food, oil, petroleum, chemicals, and containerised cargo, plus management of distressed cargo.

Vessel Surveys: General inspections, pre-purchase surveys, on/off hire surveys, and draught surveys.
