Solis Marine is pleased to announce their sponsorship and support for the Nautical Institute Northwest England and North Wales Branch annual seminar and dinner.
Held at the Liverpool INNSiDE Hotel on 23 October 2025, this year’s theme was ‘Shipboard Firefighting in the 21st Century’ and as always welcomed a large group of speakers and delegates, including cadets from Fleetwood Nautical Campus.
Captain Paul Walton, Consultant Master Mariner at Solis Marine, is a branch treasurer at the Nautical Institute and along-time supporter of its work. Captain Jamie Simpson, Senior Master Mariner at Solis Marine, was invited to present on the unique challenges posed by modern cargoes, such as electric vehicles and dangerous goods containerised cargoes. Captain Simpson explained how these cargoes introduce risks and complexities not previously encountered, rendering traditional firefighting methods less effective and necessitating the development of new techniques and training regimes across the maritime industry.
